Price for Decovil Light
Professional bag shape without a board-like feel.
What it does

Decovil® I Light is the lighter, more flexible member of the Decovil range — “Light” means lighter than Decovil® I, not lightweight.

At 240 g/m² it's still a firm, substantial bag and craft stabilizer. Once fused it gives fabric smooth body and dependable shape while keeping more flexibility than Decovil® I.

It has a leather-like feel, resists tearing and permanent creasing, doesn't fray, and stays easy to shape, sew and turn. Cut edges stay firm and it can be punched where needed.

Choose it when

You want a bag or accessory to look structured and professionally finished — without the result feeling hard or board-like.

What the customer is asking for

I want my bag to hold its shape, but I don't want it to feel stiff as a board.

Very easy to sew in

How to fuse it

Hand iron with damp cloth · 6 s · test a scrap first
1Lay the interlining with the coated side facing the reverse side of the fabric.
2Cover with a damp cloth and iron for around 6 seconds, section by section.
3Do not push the iron. After fixing, lay the pieces flat to cool for around 30 minutes to let the bond stabilise.

Best for

Tote, shoulder and crossbody bags
Handbag body panels
Zipper pouches
Wallets and organizers
Covers and cases
Gussets and box corners
Structured flaps
Bag bases that should stay firm but not fully rigid
Hat brims
Belts and straps
Fabric baskets, boxes and home-decor projects

Works best with

Quilting cotton
Cotton canvas
Furnishing and decor fabrics
Suitable synthetics

The outer fabric must tolerate the required heat and moisture. Always test the exact fabric before fusing.

Choose something else if…

The base or component must be extremely firm or carry a heavy load — choose Decovil® I or add a purpose-made base insert
You want softness, warmth or a quilted padded effect — choose H630 or H640
The fabric must stay drapey, or must retain significant knit stretch
The project must be dry-cleaned
The outer fabric is extremely fine, sheer or unable to tolerate fusing
Maker tip

Follow the pattern's seam-allowance instructions — some projects deliberately cut Decovil® I Light without seam allowance to reduce bulk. Vlieseline's bucket-hat uses it without seam allowance in the brim, with H640 in the softer crown and sides.

In one sentence

Choose Decovil® I Light for smooth, professional bag structure that stays flexible and sewable.

Pairs well with
H630 batting for the padded outer layer of the same project.
